Obscura is celebrating its 10th anniversary with several exciting updates, the most important of which is the release of its tenth issue—a special jubilee edition, declared non-thematic and open to any texts and ideas that authors wish to share with the historical community and the wider public interested in history.
Readers can look forward to a diverse selection of contributions, including an essay on Czech statehood in the 1420s, an analysis of Čechov’s novel Nový epochální výlet pana Broučka, tentokráte do XV. století from a historian’s perspective, and a reflection on teaching methods in Czech history education.
Also featured in the issue are an exclusive interview with Professor Paul Josephson on the history of science, a report titled Studium historie na Sorbonně, a review of the new Czech translation of Úsvit všeho, and many more thought-provoking texts.
Below you’ll find a link to download the full issue as well as individual articles in PDF format.
On February 19, 2025, a festive event was held to launch the 10th issue of the student journal Obscura. During the evening, eight authors participated in a moderated discussion, presenting their contributions and answering questions from both the moderators and the audience. The contributors included Vojtěch Kuna, Jan Sklenář, Cyril Mrázek, Ondřej Peleška, Petr Koryčan, Hugo Chadima, Kateřina Stará, and Matěj Hrůza, to whom we extend our sincere thanks!
